Our history
The North Hills community in Silver Spring, Maryland, was developed in the 1940s and 1950s as a suburban neighborhood designed for returning World War II veterans and their families. Its tree-lined streets and proximity to Sligo Creek Park made it an attractive place to settle, and many of the original homes still reflect mid-century architectural charm. Over the decades, North Hills has grown into a diverse and close-knit community that values civic engagement, neighborhood traditions, and the natural beauty of its surroundings.
Our organization
The North Hills of Sligo Creek Civic Association (NHSCCA) serves the North Hills community in Silver Spring, Maryland. The NHSCCA Board, comprised of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and Immediate Past President represent the diverse North HIlls community. Through initiatives like the creation of pollinator gardens and partnerships with local farms, NHSCCA promotes environmental stewardship and sustainability. Annual events such as the Fall Festival and Halloween Parade foster a strong sense of community among residents.
